Let’s GO KC Chiefs!

What a crazy month it has been! Just as I was planning my annual valentines breakfast, and gearing up to visit all the teachers for conferences, I had to quickly factor in that our KC Chiefs did it again…they won the Super Bowl! My goodness it’s so fun to be a Chiefs fan and life-long Kansas Citian! There is such a buzz around here and a victory parade was on the agenda again! Also a sweetheart dance thrown in there too!

We watched SB 57 with our neighbors and boy we really had a spread of great food and a lot of superstitions going on too! I wore the same sweatshirt and shoes that I wore in 2020 for good luck. Poor Brian went all over town trying to get those sweatshirts for me and a few friends that year. I’d say it was worth it, 2 Super Bowl wins later!!

There might have been a few whiskey shots taken, cigars and champagne drank straight from the bottle. But we won’t talk too much about that. We’re all still here to reminisce about it so it’s all fine. Everything’s just fine.

Reece watched at a friends house but joined us after the win. Morgan was celebrating in Manhattan with her Pi Phi sorority sisters

And as for that Valentine’s Day breakfast…it went great! I mean it’s a lot of work for very little eating because my children are not hungry in the morning. BUT it’s tradition and I love doing it. The one thing I can count on is they will drink up at that Shatto strawberry milk. You haven’t lived until you’ve had it! I should get paid commission if they get a spike in customers off this post. I won’t hold my breath since the only people that probably read this are my parents!

Take a look at “Sweetie” sitting there. She’s a fill in for Morgan, my college girl. Sweetie is one of my very favorite valentine gifts I’ve ever received❤️ Given to me by Drew several years ago

The night of Valentine’s Day, we grabbed the kids and their friends and made our way downtown to the Marriott. It was SO busy. We circled that parking garage a million times and got lucky finding a spot. It was absolutely packed with Chiefs fans ready to stake out their spots in the morning for the victory parade. We had the best view of the city from the 19th floor!

These freshman boys! They had a good time strolling around

Brian got up early and saved us a spot in the 5th floor of a parking garage on the parade route. He’s the very BEST! He really takes care of all of us. We bundled up (but not as much as we did in 2020 when we were in full-on ski gear because the temps were in the teens).

Jake opted out this year. After doing this a few years ago & the Royals World Series rally, he’s had his fill of celebrating with a bazillion people😂
The Lombardi trophy in the hands of Coach Reid and his family + Hunt family
Patrick Mahomes (MVPx2) and Travis Kelce
The boys were getting some attention from girls below. We were very entertained by trying to figure out who they liked. It got pretty awkward after awhile!
Tyler kept weaving up to the front to get balls volleying between sides. Next time we need to bring our own (cheap ones of course because they will get lost in the crowd in a hot second!) Tyler is completely fearless. Come to find out he was approaching girls in the hotel and asking for their Snapchat handles without missing a beat😂

We decided to watch the rally on TV from home. Trying to do both is just down right NUTS. In fact, most people I knew decided to do it all from home this time.

There we are on Patrick Mahomes video reel! See our purple sleeping bag!? We’re pretty famous😉

Somehow these balloons I made for Drew’s birthday are still looking good from a month ago so I donated them to our gym for a chiefs spirit week! I’m pretty sure Patrick Mahomes needs these in his house. I hope he calls me. I can deliver😂

So fun to have Morgan home for the celebration but it was a quick 24 hour trip and she was back to Manhattan. She had a pi phi date party to get to over the weekend anyway. Look how cute they are! She has the very best time with these sorority sisters.

Brian spent the weekend in St. Louis with Reece playing soccer with her Rush GA team. Of course he was…we have spent every weekend traveling for one sport or another.

Strangely enough, they tied all 3 games🤦🏼‍♀️ Good playing and some starts for Reece and nice weather (for February). The kids have been off school for 6 days! Between already scheduled conference days off, cancellation for the parade, and Presidents day, we could’ve gone on a legit vacation without missing any school! But sports always prevail. Even school conferences were cancelled for the chiefs celebrations. Teachers were probably doing a major happy dance for that gift!

Meanwhile, me and the boys had a very fun day on the golf course. A few bad shots here and there but mostly good. We watched the Genesis Invitational PGA event at Riviera coverage on our phones during the round – you can never have too much golf right!? Always fun to watch Tiger Woods when he plays.

Of course drew is in short sleeves and I’m in a coat, winter hat, and a blanket 😂

Up next in the agenda, we finish up Drew’s Freshman basketball season and on to Spring sports!

Also worth noting, Jake was inducted into the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society. He was nominated by his teacher (I think he may have been surprised by this). He has good grades, applied to the society by writing a short writing piece, and completing community and civic service. Congratulations JAKE!

Signing off for now…❤️CC
