Somehow there was a clerical mix up at Olathe Northwest High School and these invitations did not reach parents until the week we were supposed to attend this breakfast! Oops! In the meantime, an emergency email went out letting us know that we needed to be in the gym by 6:45a.m. so our children could be recognized. What!? How does that work when you’re trying to get other little people ready for school? I guess that means we need to scramble around and find a babysitter STAT! For me, that means an emergency text to Aunt Jenn. She is not a morning person, so I was very relieved when she said yes!
When we arrived, the gym was packed with tables, so we rushed to find a seat. The gym was full and it reminded me of a graduation ceremony. Except it was a whole bunch of Freshman students scrambling around trying to figure out why they are even there in the first place! We’re new at this!
You don’t know what award you are getting until you check the back of your chair and a card is attached that tells you! Surprise! Our prediction was she would get a math award because she really does well in that class. It didn’t matter to me what award she got, I was just so thrilled she was chosen to be recognized at all.
Morgan received an award for excellence in Language Arts and also an award for earning a 3.75 GPA & above. AWESOME! She works so hard every day doing her homework and putting in the effort it takes to be an outstanding student. This makes me so proud. You go girl! You are going to do great things!
The breakfast concluded by 8 a.m. and she ran off to class and I was left wondering what to do with myself all dressed up (for me) and full makeup on. Well, I went to the gym! I looked and felt ridiculous working out with my hair and makeup done, but I went on with my day feeling so blessed that my daughter is conscientious about her grades and her future. I love you MoMo! Keep up the amazing work!
Who knows…maybe she’ll end up being a successful executive at Hallmark!? My sister, Shauna, took her to work for the day on “Take Your Kids To Work Day” and they had the best day!!
We aren’t sure they were actually doing much work!! One thing we do know for sure, my sister works extremely hard and is very successful so if Morgan follows in her footsteps, we would be A-OK with that! Love you girls!
