This time of year brings lots of baseball and the highly anticipated State Baseball Tournament. For our age boys, it’s sort of the pinnacle of the season. It brings nerves, excitement, and parents scrambling around trying to figure out logistics for games that occur smack in the middle of the work day. As much as we think our world revolves around little league baseball, the truth is, you can’t always push ‘pause’ on work. In fact Brian endured many traveling woes this week to coach our KC Bulldogs. How he is still functioning on only a few hours of sleep and stress up to his eyeballs, I’ll never know!!!? What I definitely know is he adores his baseball team and puts everything humanly possible into it. We joke that he might like them more than his family! KIDDING! He adores all of us!
They had a crazy close victory in extra innings in a late bracket play game that had every mom and grandparent having a heart attack. Jake admitted he was nervous playing in front of such a big crowd!

It’s always bittersweet coming to the end of the season with these guys. After the State tournament, baseball just comes to an abrupt stop and after spending loads of time with these boys and their families, it’s hard to say goodbye for several months. We had some tears which will quickly be replaced with extra time to swim, vacation, and hang with family the rest of the summer.

Our KC Bulldogs made it to the quarterfinals of the tournament and finished 5th among 40 11U AA baseball teams. It’s an accomplishment just to make it into bracket play and they played the best baseball we’ve seen all season. These guys are fun to watch!
Jake, you played your heart out and it showed. There is no doubt you are my MVP! I can’t end this post without putting my favorite picture of all time in! Your facial expressions during baseball games are awesome. You always look like you are having so much fun out there!
Last weekend we spent some fun family time in Topeka playing great baseball as well. It gave us great momentum going into the State Tourney. Once again we wound up with a late game going straight into an early morning…you can see Morgan was thrilled with that. Thank goodness she’s not our bat girl or scorekeeper!
The previous day she was much more alert!

Go KC Bulldogs!
